Red Wine and Words Update

Tiny post alert!

Just a quick update with a link to the Amazon page selling Red Wine and Words.

Pop on over, take a look, and if you were to buy a copy, well that would be just swell!

And because I can, here's the cover again!

  1. I bought this book on a recommendation but if I had been judging the book by it's cover I wouldn't have bought it... I hate to say that but it's true the poor design belies the quality of the work inside. I know that is trivial in the grand scheme of things, it will in no way effect the enjoyment of the reader but may effect your sales.

I haven't finished it quite yet but I very much like what I have read so far... I am looking forward to getting a chance to finish it.

    1. Hi Anonymous (is it just me or is that the hardest word in the English language to spell in one go?)

I'm sorry to hear you don't like the cover. It's true, this wasn't the original idea I'd had in my head, but when that was mocked up, though pretty, it ended up looking like a food and wine magazine!

Then, being published by a small press, there are budgetary restraints. They were already taking a chance on me, being a newbie and and overseas author. In saying that, this being my baby, I think it's gorgeous ; But your comments are much appreciated, and of course, agreed with - as much as we would like to believe we are opened minded, we do, whether we like it or not, judge books by their covers, both literally and figuratively.

This being said, I am uber happy that you are liking Red Wine and Words, the stories1 I hope it continues that way. I am also chuffed that it was 'recommended' to you. This is always nice to hear.

Thanks for taking the time to comment

  2. Jeeze you were super polite! Like customer services polite! I would not have been :D

I just went in to add my review to Amazon (5 stars) I am finally finished (just back from a pretty long haul holiday) and am crap at writing those things so went on a bit of a web tangent to get inspiration and found myself on your blog through your author page on Amazon (the lengthy explanation is because I feel as if I'm cyber stalking you)

...anywho I had a point don't ya know! I haven't seen the cover properly being a geeky Kindle owner (I'm sure it's fine) but for you next novel/compilation (if budgetary constraints are an issue) I have a little sister who is quite the awesome graphic designer and while its web not print I myself am currently in a design job. I'm pretty expensive normally but I can probably get you a fairly decent FREEBIE design job :D

    1. I'm pretty intimidated by your previous review on Amazon. Mine is going to be crap by comparison.

    2. 5 stars? How can that be crap? The first review was by an independent professional reviewer! I liked your review. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :)
