So Begins the Mythological Cycle

Following the award of second place in the Trinity College Book of Kells creative competition for my short story, The Spiral, I consider my arse well and truly kicked into gear. I hereby pledge make serious roads into my planned series of Irish mythology novels, Song of Ireland.

The Spiral was an experiment to 'test' the research I've been doing for the past two years into the myths and legends of Ireland. The story is set in AD800 and follows Aodhán, an Ionian monk struggling to find inspiration to create a book that will 'turn the darkness into light'. Following a dream of a talking raven, Aodhán sets out for Ireland, where he meets an interesting and ancient figure.

Having received such a prestigious award, I take it as my cue to end the research and begin the execution.

Stay tuned for more information on The Spiral and Song of Ireland.
